Educational documents must go through verification stages, including university checks in some states:

• HRD Attestation / Education Department: The local State Education Department verifies the certificate from the issuing university.
• Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM): An alternative, quicker route recognized by the MEA in specific circumstances.
• Ministry of External Affairs (MEA): The final authority that stamps and attaches the unique registration Apostille code.
